Fault tolerant control in six-phase PMSM under four open-circuits fault conditions

IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2016
A new Fault Tolerant System (FTS) for six-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSM) working at variable speed is proposed in this paper. The strategy is able to tolerate up to four open-circuit faults and it aims to minimize torque ripple and reduce the reactive power on the machine operating under fault and no-fault conditions.

Research on torque performance of six-phase PMSM with similar pole and slot number

2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015
According to the principle of magnetic energy virtual displacement and the characteristics of double Y shifted by 30° winding, the analytical expression of torque in six-phase permanent magnetic synchronous motor (PMSM) is derived, and the impact of harmonic magnetic field on torque is analyzed in this paper yet.

Common-Mode Voltage Elimination for Dual Two-Level Inverter-Fed Asymmetrical Six-Phase PMSM

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2020
The voltage-source inverter with pulsewidth modulation (PWM) is widely used in motor drive applications owing to the technical maturity and simplicity. However, the inverter operating in the discrete and impulse state generates the high-frequency common-mode voltage (CMV) in the neutral point terminal of stator winding, which induces the negative ...

Diagnosis of Open-Phase Faults and High Resistance Connections in Six-Phase PMSM Drives

2020 International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies (SEST), 2020
Although multiphase machines can operate with one or more disabled phases, the diagnosis of an open-phase fault (OPF) is important in order to reconfigure the control strategy. High resistance connection faults (HRCFs) are created by unsecured and damaged connections and if not detected early on can evolve to OPFs.

Simplified Voltage Behind Reactance model for the Six-phase Open-End Salient Pole PMSM

2020 International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2020
In the last years an increasing interest in modeling, design and control of poly-phase machines can be noticed, mainly due to the greater fault tolerance capability of these kind of machines, as well as to the lower prices of electronic switches required in the power drive.

Study on direct torque control of dual Y shift 30 degree six-phase PMSM

2015 IEEE 10th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2015
Decoupling mathematical model in d-q coordinates of dual Y shift 30 degree six-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor (DYSP-PMSM) is established through coordinate transformations. Direct torque control (DTC) strategy based on switch table is applied to improve the rapidness of the system. The theory of DTC strategy of multi-phase PMSM is elaborated.

Investigation of low space harmonic six-phase PMSM with FSCWS for electric vehicle applications

2017 IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo, Asia-Pacific (ITEC Asia-Pacific), 2017
A six-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) with a new fractional-slot winding arrangement is proposed for the electric vehicle application. With a 105° electrical angle between the two sets of three-phase windings, the most harmful 5th harmonic in the air-gap magnetomotive force (MMF) can be completely cancelled in a 7-pair-pole machine ...
