Entering the Age of Specificity in T Cell Immunity

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 343, Issue 1, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The discovery of MHC restriction, the resolution of peptide–MHC structure, and the identification of the T cell receptor gene quickly centered epitope‐level specificity as a core concern of T cell biology. Epitope mapping culminated in functional peptide‐based stimulation assays and tetramer staining, which together provide exquisite ...

Advances in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus: Biologicals, small‐molecular agents, and cell‐depleting therapies coming to the clinic

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 300, Issue 4, Page 461-479, October 2026.
Abstract Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE; lupus) remains a particular challenge for the practicing clinician on account of its chronic undulating and unpredictable course, its diverse manifestations, and—until recently—limited treatment options all associated with considerable downsides.

Thrombomodulin Shapes Thrombo‐Inflammatory Interactions in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Immunology, Volume 104, Issue 4, October 2026.
Lupus nephritis is characterized by a distinct thrombo‐inflammatory profile dominated by endothelial activation, with thrombomodulin emerging as the most consistent biological marker of renal involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus. ABSTRACT Lupus nephritis (LN) confers a disproportionate thrombotic risk in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) that ...

Pathophysiology of the gut–eye axis in a Sjögren's disease‐like dry eye mouse model: An exploratory evaluation of dietary heat‐treated Enterococcus faecalis FK‐23

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 10, Page 4507-4524, 1 October 2026.
Abstract Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disease characterized by severe dry eye, but its pathophysiology remains unclear. Non‐obese diabetic (NOD) mice develop Sjögren's disease‐like dry eye prior to the onset of diabetes. Although intestinal immune abnormalities precede diabetes in NOD mice, their relationship to dry eye remains poorly understood.
