Long-term trajectory of some elasmobranch species off the Tuscany coasts (NW Mediterranean) from 50 years of catch data

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2013
The time series of elasmobranch catch rates off the Tuscany coasts (NW Mediterranean) were investigated by means of min/max auto-correlation factor analysis in order to estimate variations in population abundance and evaluate the influence of ...

Agreement between muscle saturation breakpoints and lactate thresholds: Muscles comparison and sex difference in world‐class Nordic skiers

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Near‐infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has emerged as a potential alternative method for determination of breakpoints equivalent to lactate thresholds. However, the optimal NIRS location remains unclear, particularly in Nordic skiing, which requires both upper‐ and lower‐limb contributions.

National‐Standard Middle‐Distance Runners Maintain 1500 m Time Trial Running Performance on Successive Days

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT To examine how middle‐distance athletes maintain self‐paced time trial performance on successive days, 12 national‐standard middle‐distance specialists performed two self‐paced 1500 m time trials on successive days. Following baseline assessment and familiarisation trials, participants (10 male, 2 female, mean age ± SD: 27 ± 7 years, mass: 66 ±

Associations of Commercial Fisheries and Cold‐Water Corals and Sponges

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 27, Issue 2, Page 116-129, March 2026.
Three metrics for determining whether the marine life that are landed by commercial fisheries are associated with cold‐water corals and sponges: (a) Adjacent; (b) General Proximity; and (c) Habitat. The relationship between these structure forming invertebrates (SFI) and fisheries is robust across analytical approaches.
