DALS: Diffusion-Based Artistic Landscape Sketch

open access: yesMathematics
We propose a framework that synthesizes artistic landscape sketches using a diffusion model-based approach. Furthermore, we suggest a three-channel perspective map (3CPM) that mimics the artistic skill used by real artists.

Asymmetric Feature Maps with Application to Sketch Based Retrieval

open access: yes, 2017
We propose a novel concept of asymmetric feature maps (AFM), which allows to evaluate multiple kernels between a query and database entries without increasing the memory requirements.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Sketch-Guided Latent Diffusion Model for High-Fidelity Face Image Synthesis

open access: yesIEEE Access
Synthesizing facial images from monochromatic sketches is one of the most fundamental tasks in the field of image-to-image translation. However, it is still challenging to teach model high-dimensional face features, such as geometry and color, and to the

Cognitive and cartographic representations: towards a comprehensive approach

open access: yesCybergeo, 2002
In order to clearly understand the cognitive representations of the urban space, this paper presents an approach in three steps: identification, which highlights the importance of a place; its location more or less exact which indicates the level of the ...

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Contour detection network for zero-shot sketch-based image retrieval

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems, 2023
Zero-shot sketch-based image retrieval (ZS-SBIR) is a challenging task that involves searching natural images related to a given hand-drawn sketch under the zero-shot scene. The previous approach projected image and sketch features into a low-dimensional

SketchyGAN: Towards Diverse and Realistic Sketch to Image Synthesis

open access: yes, 2018
Synthesizing realistic images from human drawn sketches is a challenging problem in computer graphics and vision. Existing approaches either need exact edge maps, or rely on retrieval of existing photographs.
