Review of conceptual and empirical approaches to characterize infiltration

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
Abstract Infiltration regulates the movement and storage of water at the soil–atmosphere interface and is, therefore, a key component of many related physical and biogeochemical processes. Numerous studies have examined infiltration over the past two centuries.

A temperature tipping point in hypoxic zone size

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 69, Issue 12, Page 2954-2962, December 2024.
Abstract Temperature increases will have ubiquitous effects on aquatic food webs, from microbes to consumers, and affect the quality and quantity of carbon flows within and between water layers. A decline in the biological pump moving carbon from surface to lower layers is anticipated. We reviewed 37 years of data on hypoxic zone size and water quality

L${L}$‐functions of Kloosterman sheaves

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 129, Issue 5, November 2024.
Abstract In this article, we study a family of motives Mn+1k$\mathrm{M}_{n+1}^k$ associated with the symmetric power of Kloosterman sheaves constructed by Fresán, Sabbah, and Yu. They demonstrated that for n=1$n=1$, the L$L$‐functions of M2k$\mathrm{M}_{2}^k$ extend meromorphically to C$\mathbb {C}$ and satisfy the functional equations conjectured by ...

Classification conjectures for Leavitt path algebras

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 56, Issue 10, Page 3011-3060, October 2024.
Abstract The theory of Leavitt path algebras is intrinsically related, via graphs, to the theory of symbolic dynamics and C∗$C^*$‐algebras where the major classification programs have been a domain of intense research in the last 50 years. In this article, we gather together current lines of research in the classification of Leavitt path algebras ...

Cluster realisations of ıquantum$\imath {\rm quantum}$ groups of type AI

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 129, Issue 4, October 2024.
Abstract The ıquantum$\imath {\rm quantum}$ group Unı${\mathrm{U}^\imath _{n}}$ of type AIn$\textrm {AI}_n$ is a coideal subalgebra of the quantum group Uq(sln+1)$U_q(\mathfrak {sl}_{n+1})$, associated with the symmetric pair (sln+1,son+1)$(\mathfrak {sl}_{n+1},\mathfrak {so}_{n+1})$.

Prime ideals of skew polynomial rings and skew Laurent polynomial rings

open access: yes, 2018
Let \(S=R[X,X^{-1};\rho]\) be a skew Laurent polynomial ring over a ring \(R\) with automorphism \(\rho\). The authors characterize those prime ideals \(P\) of \(S\) with \(P\cap R=0\) in terms of irreducible polynomials over the centre of \(Q[X,X^{-1};\rho]\), where \(Q\) is the right Martindale quotient of \(R\) with respect to the filter of non-zero

Semilinear clannish algebras

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 129, Issue 4, October 2024.
Abstract We define a class of associative algebras generalizing ‘clannish algebras’, as introduced by the second author, but also incorporating semilinear structure, like a skew polynomial ring. Clannish algebras generalize the well‐known ‘string algebras’ introduced by Butler and Ringel.

$K$-theory of Leavitt path algebras

open access: yes, 2008
Let $E$ be a row-finite quiver and let $E_0$ be the set of vertices of $E$; consider the adjacency matrix $N'_E=(n_{ij})\in\Z^{(E_0\times E_0)}$, $n_{ij}=#\{$ arrows from $i$ to $j\}$. Write $N^t_E$ and 1 for the matrices $\in \Z^{(E_0\times E_0\setminus\
