Business News and Business Cycles

open access: yesThe Journal of Finance, Volume 79, Issue 5, Page 3105-3147, October 2024.
ABSTRACT We propose an approach to measuring the state of the economy via textual analysis of business news. From the full text of 800,000 Wall Street Journal articles for 1984 to 2017, we estimate a topic model that summarizes business news into interpretable topical themes and quantifies the proportion of news attention allocated to each theme over ...

Navigating Intelligence: A Survey of Google OR‐Tools and Machine Learning for Global Path Planning in Autonomous Vehicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2024.
Advancing global path planning algorithm is studied for transforming geochemical mining sampling in autonomous vehicles. Cutting‐edge algorithms are harnessed to solve the intricate traveling salesman problem, optimizing route efficiency. A novel analysis of operations research‐tools and reinforcement learning techniques is investigated, demonstrating ...

Evaluation of drone surveys for ungulates in southwestern rangelands

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, Volume 48, Issue 2, June 2024.
Drones equipped with thermal cameras are being used to survey wildlife, but reliability of population estimates are untested. Repeated drone surveys of white‐tailed deer yielded repeatable and precise estimates that were comparable with other estimators.

Parafree graphs of groups with cyclic edge groups

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 109, Issue 6, June 2024.
Abstract We establish a combination theorem for parafree groups. These groups were introduced by Baumslag in the sixties. One of the current motivations for a better understanding of their structure is that they show up naturally in connection with Remeslennikov's conjecture on the profinite rigidity of free groups.

Boundary line analysis and machine learning models to identify critical soil values for major crops in Guatemala

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 116, Issue 3, Page 1071-1087, May/June 2024.
Abstract Accurate and economically sound soil fertility recommendations are critical for ensuring profitable food production for smallholder farmers. However, such recommendations are lacking in many areas due to insufficient soil and crop response data.

The automorphism group of the quantum grassmannian

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 56, Issue 4, Page 1310-1327, April 2024.
Abstract The automorphism group of a quantised coordinate algebra is usually much smaller than that of its classical counterpart. Nevertheless, these automorphism groups are often very difficult to calculate. In this paper, we calculate the automorphism group of the quantum grassmannian in the case that the deformation parameter is not a root of unity.

Noncommutative symmetric functions and W-polynomials

open access: yes, 2006
Let K,S,D be a division ring, an endomorphism and a S-derivation of K, respectively. In this setting we introduce generalized noncommutative symmetric functions and obtain Vieta formula and decompositions of differential operators.
