Soil bulk density, porosity and penetration resistance recovery following timber harvest cessation on abandoned skid trails after 20 years, Kheyroud forest [PDF]
Deforestation and soil degradation start simultaneously, thus the conservation of forest and soil mutually affect each other. Therefore, techniques should be developed to reduce the amount of forest damage which in turn shortens the recovery time.

In mixed stands, coniferous species showed growth benefits when coexisting with broadleaf species, possibly due to reduced intraspecific competition or improved access to resources mediated by broadleaf neighbours. This growth advantage was not observed for broadleaf species, indicating asymmetric benefits in mixed stands.

Using LiDAR to quantify, map, and conserve late‐successional and old‐growth forest in Maine, USA
Abstract The world continues to lose late‐successional and old‐growth (LSOG) forest as the human population and demand for wood fiber grow. However, older forest age classes provide structural and compositional characteristics important to biodiversity that are often not present in forests managed for timber.

Damages of Skidder and Animal Logging to Forest Soils and Natural Regeneration
Extracting logs from stump to landings causes extensive damages to forest stand and soil. In this research two parcels adjacent to each other were selected in order to assess the effect of traditional and mechanized methods of logging on regeneration and

ABSTRACT This work addresses the challenge of bidirectional trajectory tracking in solar‐powered wheeled mobile robots (WMRs), considering the mechanical structure, actuator‐driver, and power stage subsystems. Notably, this is the first study to explicitly model and control the actuator‐driver subsystem within this context. The proposed solution relies

Calculating the correction factor of skidding distance based on forest road network
Average skidding distance for forest stands is an important parameter for the determination of the optimum road density and spacing. In this research the real mean skidding distance and theoretical mean skidding distance were measured to calculate the ...

Police drone technology could be utilized to support forensic scene investigations. If the challenges of implementing new technologies can be overcome, drones could improve operational efficiency, interpretation issues and add investigative value in the courtroom. ABSTRACT Unoccupied aerial systems (UAS; otherwise known as Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAV)

ABSTRACT Introduction Characterizing stressful events reported by childhood cancer survivors experienced throughout the lifespan may help improve trauma‐informed care relevant to the survivor experience. Methods Participants included 2552 survivors (54% female; 34 years of age) and 469 community controls (62% female; 33 years of age) from the St.

A coupled hydrologic and hydraulic modelling framework relying on representative hillslope models and scaled using hydraulic routing schemes is proposed to simulate Hortonian overland flow at intermediate scales. Using a reconstructed historic summer storm in southwest Germany (1994), we show how hillslope scale nature‐based flood prevention measures ...

Vegetation development on skid trails and burned sites in southeastern British Columbia
Vegetation development, including both planted and natural tree seedlings, was examined over a 5-year period on an area in the ESSFmw subzone of the Nelson Forest Region which was clearcut, skid logged, burned, and planted with 2 + 0, 313, Engelmann spruce.
