Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

Productivity and cost of farm tractor skidding
In this study, productivity rate and operation cost of farm tractor were evaluated in a mountainous natural forest. Data for the study came from a detailed time study in the Research and Educational Forest of Tarbiat Modares University (REFTMU) and was ...

A General Workflow for Tangential Flow Filtration Perfusion Scale‐Up
ABSTRACT Tangential flow filtration (TFF) perfusion using hollow‐fiber modules offers substantial advantages over other mammalian cell retention technologies. Recently, increased awareness of Starling flow has helped to enhance filtration performance to similar, or even higher levels compared to alternative technologies.

Triboelectric nanogenerators for vehicle intelligent cockpits
Converting mechanical stimuli from drivers and vehicle motion into electrical signals, triboelectric nanogenerators provide promising interfaces toward passive, flexible, distributed and intelligent sensing for next‐generation automotive cockpits to support three core functional dimensions: driver state monitoring, vehicle state monitoring, and human ...

ABSTRACT Rehabilitation of skid trails following timber harvesting is critical for preserving forest soil integrity, particularly within ecologically sensitive ecosystems such as the Hyrcanian forests of northern Iran, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although mulching is widely recommended for erosion control, field evidence comparing different locally ...

Sliding Mode Control in Aerospace Applications: A Survey
ABSTRACT Sliding mode control (SMC) enjoys robustness to matched and unmatched (in the case of minimum phase input‐output dynamics) bounded perturbations, and finite time convergence. Second‐order and higher‐order sliding mode control systems (2‐SMC/HOSMC) retain all the advantages of sliding mode control, but in addition can be applied to systems of ...

Optimization of Skidding Distances in Mountain Conditions with Different Skidding Devices
In forestry practice, during forest harvesting there are many different situations while skidding timber assortments, which are dealt with individually depending on the circumstances. The main purpose of this scientific paper is to offer a model for the calculation of the optimal distance for skidding timber assortments uphill or downhill, in mountain ...
