Abstract This case report presents a recent case of scuticociliatosis in a whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), housed at a zoo (Haus des Meeres Aqua Terra Zoo, Vienna, Austria). Clinical signs such as uncoordinated swimming and body tilt were observed prior to death.

Question the Mark: A Review and Assessment of Bat Marking Practices
We reviewed a decade of research on bats and conducted a broader systematic review to assess the nature of bat marking practices and the effects and efficacy of marks. Effects of marks on bats, mark details and marking procedures are rarely reported and further research on the effects of marks on bats and more thorough reporting are needed.

The enigmatic case of Lipoptena sp. in the Bosco della Mesola Nature Reserve (Italy)
This is the first report of Lipoptena andaluciensis in Italy, confirmed morphologically and genetically. The presence of L. andaluciensis in Italy dates back many years; it was found on cervids in lowland habitats. A re‐examination of the previous report of the Italian L. fortisetosa is needed.
