pH‐Driven Two‐Stage Conformational Switching Activates an Acid‐Responsive Chaperone
Angewandte Chemie, EarlyView.AchC is an ATP‐independent, pH‐responsive chaperone. AchC functions as a molecular switch, sensing pH changes and undergoing a two‐stage conformational transition: C‐terminal extension (colored in yellow) loosening at mild pH 4.0–5.5 and monomerization at strong acidic pH 3.0.
