Volta potential mapping of the gradient strengthened layer in 20CrMnTi by using SKPFM [PDF]
The purpose of this paper is to use SKPFM to characterize the gradient strengthened layer induced by the ultrasonic surface rolling process (USRP). A correlation between the dislocation, residual stresses, and SKPFM-derived Volta potential was obtained using scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy (SKPFM), electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD ...

Metal–Matrix Composites from High‐Pressure Torsion with Functionalized Material Behavior
Cu‐based metal–matrix composites are produced from mixed powders by high‐pressure torsion either with ZrO2 or BaTiO3 (BTO). The ceramics are successfully embedded in the metallic matrix. The BTO material exhibits a piezoelectric effect during bending and the stabilized high‐pressure phase of ZrO2 particles promotes self‐healing by earlier fatigue crack

Local Corrosion Behavior of Additive Manufactured AlSiMg Alloy Assessed by SEM and SKPFM [PDF]
The local corrosion behavior of additive manufactured AlSiMg specimens was studied using the SEM and SKPFM techniques. A morphological characterization of corroded areas revealed that crystallographic pitting developed in the aluminum grains inside the melt pool borders, from where corrosion spread to adjacent zones.
