Harnessing Advances in Bone Tissue Engineering for Design of Bone‐on‐Chip Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Bone‐on‐chip (BoC) systems demonstrate significant potential as next‐generation models to study human (patho)physiology and evaluate new therapies. However, progress toward functional, human‐like BoCs has been hindered by the structural and functional complexity of bone. This perspective discusses how insights from bone tissue engineering can guide BoC

Germinoma in the Internal Auditory Canal Mimicking a Vestibular Schwannoma

open access: yesCase Reports in Otolaryngology, 2014
The appearance of a primary germinoma in the central nervous system but not on or near the midline or within the brain is exceptional. It may occur at any age; however, it is rare in patients over 50 years old.

Intraoperative Monitoring of the Cochlear Nerve during Neurofibromatosis Type-2 Vestibular Schwannoma Surgery and Description of a “Test Intracochlear Electrode”

open access: yesJournal of Neurological Surgery Reports, 2019
Objectives A decision on whether to insert a cochlear implant can be made in neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) if there is objective evidence of cochlear nerve (CN) function post vestibular schwannoma (VS) excision.

Hemangiopericytomas of the skull base

open access: yesNeurosurgical Focus, 2011
Object Intracranial hemangiopericytomas are frequently located along the dural sinuses along the skull base and represent rare, aggressive CNS neoplasms that are difficult to distinguish from meningiomas based on both imaging and gross characteristics.

Thermal Processing Creates Water‐Stable PEDOT:PSS Films for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Instead of using chemical cross–linkers, it is shown that PEDOT:PSS thin films for bioelectronics become water‐stable after a simple heat treatment. The heat treatment is compatible with a range of rigid and elastomeric substrates and films are stable in vivo for >20 days.

Sacrificial Biofabrication for Vascularization: Concept, Materials, Technologies, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Vasculature is indispensable for tissue viability in regenerative medicine. The sacrificial biofabrication enables precise fabrication of vascular channels by using temporary templates that are subsequently removed. This review defines the concept and delves into sacrificial materials, surrounding materials, fabrication technologies, and biomedical ...
