Comparison of quality of life between patients undergoing trans-oral endoscopic thyroid surgery and conventional open surgery

open access: yesBMC Surgery, 2020
Background Trans-oral endoscopic thyroidectomy allows obviating scar of the neck that expects to gain quality of life (QOL). However, the benefit of the QOL from this technique has not been adequately investigated, therefore, this study compared the QOL ...

A Flexible‐Substrate 5‐µm‐Diameter Needle Electrode: Minimizing Neuronal Death and Enabling Year‐Long Neural Recording

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
An electrophysiological recording technology that uses a 5‐µm‐diameter microneedle electrode device is presented. Due to the remarkable small dimension of the microneedle, the electrode provides minimal invasive neural recording in a mouse brain and enables long‐term recording exceeding the year‐long duration.

Germinoma in the Internal Auditory Canal Mimicking a Vestibular Schwannoma

open access: yesCase Reports in Otolaryngology, 2014
The appearance of a primary germinoma in the central nervous system but not on or near the midline or within the brain is exceptional. It may occur at any age; however, it is rare in patients over 50 years old.

Ultra‐Flexible µ‐ECoG Arrays Based on PEDOT:PSS Micropillars

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates an efficient procedure for fabricating ultra‐flexible neural interfaces endowed with micropatterned microelectrodes to increase surface area and characterized by extremely low impedance values to enable high‐quality recordings. The home‐built device has been shown to record somatosensory evoked potentials in vivo with exceptional

Integrative multi-omic profiling of the neoantigen landscape of glioblastoma for the development of therapeutic vaccines reveals vast heterogeneity in immunogenic signatures

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
IntroductionGlioblastoma (GBM) is the most common primary brain malignancy. Few neoantigens have been tested in trials as the cancer vaccine against GBM.MethodsTo better understand the neoantigen landscape and its associated tumor microenvironment (TME ...

Otolithic organ function in patients with profound sensorineural hearing loss

open access: yesJournal of Otology, 2016
Profound sensorineural hearing loss (PSHL) is not uncommonly encountered in otology. In clinics, there is a high incidence of otolithic damage in patients with PSHL, but relevant reports are few.
