Assessment of Vertebral Body Bone Quality in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) Using Micro‐CT, qBEI, and Nanoindentation—A Case Study

A new biopsy protocol enabled the first combined micro‐CT, qBEI, and nanoindentation study of AIS vertebral bodies, revealing slightly thicker trabeculae, broader mineralization distribution, and decreasing mineralization and reduced modulus with vertebral wedge angle severity—supporting a role for altered bone quality in AIS.
