From cloud computing to sky computing
We consider the future of cloud computing and ask how we might guide it towards a more coherent service we call sky computing. The barriers are more economic than technical, and we propose reciprocal peering as a key enabling step.

A novel ensemble estimation of distribution algorithm with distribution modification strategies
The canonical estimation of distribution algorithm (EDA) easily falls into a local optimum with an ill-shaped population distribution, which leads to weak convergence performance and less stability when solving global optimization problems.

We develop a new method for estimating and removing the spectrum of the sky from deep spectroscopic observations; our method does not rely on simultaneous measurement of the sky spectrum with the object spectrum.

Composite Quasar Spectra from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey [PDF]
We have created a variety of composite quasar spectra using a homogeneous data set of over 2200 spectra from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). The quasar sample spans a redshift range of 0.044 ≤ z ≤ 4.789 and an absolute r' magnitude range of -18.0 to

The Wiener-Filtered COBE DMR Data and Predictions for the Tenerife Experiment [PDF]
We apply a Wiener filter to the two-year COBE DMR data. The resulting sky map has significantly reduced noise levels compared to the raw data: the most prominent hot and cold spots are significant at the 4-sigma level.
