Living in the Mycelial World

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract This manuscript documents a systematic ethnomycological analysis of ethnographic archives. Focusing on texts describing human–fungi interactions, I conduct a global, cross‐cultural review of mushroom use, covering 193 societies worldwide. The study reveals diverse mushroom‐related cultural practices, emphasizing the significance of fungi ...

LoRa-PRIME: A Novel Secret Key Generation Framework Based on Periodic Bit Reversal and Modified Adaptive Quantization for Robust Cooperative Jamming LoRa Relay Networks

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
Physical-layer secret key generation (SKG) offers a lightweight security approach for resource-constrained Internet of Things (IoT) devices. However, most existing methods are designed for direct links and do not explicitly address relay-assisted LoRa ...

VLT identification of the optical afterglow of the gamma-ray burst GRB 000131 at z=4.50 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We report the discovery of the gamma-ray burst GRB 000131 and its optical afterglow. The optical identification was made with the VLT 84 hours after the burst following a BATSE detection and an Inter Planetary Network localization.

Measurement of night sky brightness in southern Australia

open access: yes, 2011
Night sky brightness is a major source of noise both for Cherenkov telescopes as well as for wide-angle Cherenkov detectors. Therefore, it is important to know the level of night sky brightness at potential sites for future experiments.

Battery‐Free UV‐Dose Detector via Defect‐Engineered Ca2SnO4:RE (RE = Sm3+, Pr3+) Oxide Phosphors

open access: yesCarbon Neutralization, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
Sm3+/Pr3+‐doped Ca2SnO4 (CSO:RE) phosphors exhibit orange/deep‐red 4f–4 f emissions and defect‐related luminescence. LPL, TL, and OSL measurements reveal thermally/optically addressable traps, with OSL signals retained after 504 h dark storage. Embedded in a polymer matrix, CSO:RE enables battery‐free UV‐dose logging under sunlight with optical readout,

Fossil Hegemony and Capitalist Realism in Tropic of Orange

open access: yesFuture Humanities, Volume 4, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines Karen Tei Yamashita's Tropic of Orange (1997) through the lens of Mark Fisher's influential concept ‘capitalist realism’. Scholars of petrofiction have pointed to a political ambivalence in the representation of fossil fuels, where a better understanding of fossil capital can overwhelm as much as galvanize.
