The Sydney University Molonglo Sky Survey (SUMSS) and Optical Redshift Surveys of the Southern Sky [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2002
The Sydney University Molonglo Sky Survey (SUMSS) is a radio imaging survey at 843 MHz of the whole sky south of declination −30°. With a resolution of 43″ × 43″ cosec |δ| and an rms noise level of ∼ 1 mJy/beam, SUMSS has similar sensitivity and resolution to the northern NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS).

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

An Extremely Deep Rubin Survey to Explore the Extended Kuiper Belt and Identify Objects Observable by New Horizons

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
A proposed Vera C. Rubin Observatory deep-drilling microsurvey of the Kuiper Belt will investigate key properties of the distant solar system. Utilizing 30 hr of Rubin time across six 5 hr visits over 1 yr starting in summer 2026, the survey aims to ...

The ASTRO-F Mission : Large Area Infrared Survey

open access: yes, 2005
ASTRO-F is the first Japanese satellite mission dedicated for large area surveys in the infrared. The 69cm aperture telescope and scientific instruments are cooled to 6K by liquid Helium and mechanical coolers.

CMB Lensing Reconstruction on the Full Sky [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Gravitational lensing of the microwave background by the intervening dark matter mainly arises from large-angle fluctuations in the projected gravitational potential and hence offers a unique opportunity to study the physics of the dark sector at large ...

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 44, 1 June 2026.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Time Domain Explorations With Digital Sky Surveys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
One of the new frontiers of astronomical research is the exploration of time variability on the sky at different wavelengths and flux levels. We have carried out a pilot project using DPOSS data to study strong variables and transients, and are now ...

Measuring and calibrating Galactic synchrotron emission

open access: yes, 2008
Our position inside the Galaxy requires all-sky surveys to reveal its large-scale properties. The zero-level calibration of all-sky surveys differs from standard 'relative' measurements, where a source is measured in respect to its surroundings.

Polymer Infiltration Into SURMOF Channels Enables Hydrophobic and Solid‐Like Slippery Functional Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 43, 29 May 2026.
We report a polymer‐chain insertion strategy to fabricate pore‐threaded MOF thin films with precisely tuned surface chemistry and wettability. Grafting n‐alkane chains into the pillared layer Cu2(bdc)2(dabco) MOF thin film's vertical nanochannels enhances water stability, and induces hydrophobicity and lubricant‐free, solid‐like slippery behavior ...

Photometric Redshift Forecast for the 7-Dimensional Sky Survey

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We investigate the expected accuracy of redshifts that can be obtained using low-resolution spectroscopic (medium-band) data from the 7-Dimensional Sky Survey (7DS). By leveraging 40 densely sampled filters with widths of FWHM = 25 nm, we create 7DS mock
