Topology dependence of skyrmion Seebeck and skyrmion Nernst effect

open access: yes, 2022
We explore the dynamics of skyrmions with various topological charges induced by a temperature gradient in an ultra-thin insulating magnetic film. Combining atomistic spin simulations and analytical calculations we find a topology-dependent skyrmion ...

Switchable Magnonic Crystals Based on Spin Crossover/CrSBr Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale modeling is employed to investigate the functionality of a light‐controlled, tunable magnonic crystal based on spin‐crossover Fe‐pz molecules integrated with a monolayer of CrSBr. Ab initio simulations confirm that the molecules remain functional on the CrSBr surface, while a semiclassical elastic model demonstrates that light‐induced ...

Quantum skyrmions

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1990
We develop a (formal) quantization of the solitons of chiral SU(N) non-linear sigma models (skyrmions) in terms of euclidean-region functional integrals. Our method permits us to determine baryon number, spin and statistics of skyrmions directly from their euclidean correlation functions.

Skyrmion Pair Racetrack Utilizing Hall Motion

open access: yesMagnetochemistry
The skyrmion racetrack is a promising concept for future information technology. The primary issues with skyrmion racetrack memory are now error codes and Hall motion. Here, we propose a skyrmion pair racetrack memory. The Oersted fields generated by the

Harnessing Skyrmion Hall Effect by Thickness Gradients in Wedge-Shaped Samples of Cubic Helimagnets

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The skyrmion Hall effect, which is regarded as a significant hurdle for skyrmion implementation in thin-film racetrack devices, is theoretically shown to be suppressed in wedge-shaped nanostructures of cubic helimagnets. Under an applied electric current,

Isospinning Skyrmions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the Skyrme model atomic nuclei are modelled as quantized soliton solutions in a nonlinear field theory of pions. The mass number is given by the conserved topological charge B of the solitons.

Skyrmion-Mediated Voltage-Controlled Switching of Ferromagnets for Reliable and Energy-Efficient Two-Terminal Memory

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a two-terminal nanomagnetic memory element based on magnetization reversal of a perpendicularly magnetized nanomagnet employing a unipolar voltage pulse that modifies the perpendicular anisotropy of the system.

Resonant Domain Wall Dynamics in a Three‐Dimensional Magnetic Nano Double Helix

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D magnetic nanostructures promise exciting possibilities for magnetization dynamics. However, experimental realizations remain scarce. In nanoprinted cobalt double helices, time‐resolved X‐ray microscopy reveals harmonic domain wall dynamics. Simulations identify the mode and additional higher‐frequency resonances, revealing a rich dynamic landscape ...

Broken baby Skyrmions [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2011
Abstract The baby Skyrme model is a (2+1)-dimensional analogue of the Skyrme model, in which baryons are described by topological solitons. We introduce a version of the baby Skyrme model in which the global O(3) symmetry is broken to the dihedral group DN.
