Theory of skyrmion states in liquid crystals [PDF]
Within the Oseen-Frank theory we derive numerically exact solutions for axisymmetric localized states in chiral liquid crystal layers with homeotropic anchoring. These solutions describe recently observed two-dimensional skyrmions in confinement-frustrated chiral nematics [P. J. Ackerman et al., Phys. Rev. E 90, 012505 (2014)].

Ordering of room-temperature magnetic skyrmions in a polar van der Waals magnet
Control and understanding of ensembles of skyrmions is important for realization of future technologies. In particular, the order-disorder transition associated with the 2D lattice of magnetic skyrmions can have significant implications for transport and

Skyrmion Crystals in Frustrated Shastry–Sutherland Magnets [PDF]
The phase diagrams of the frustrated classical spin model with the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) interaction on the Shastry–Sutherland lattice are studied by means of Monte Carlo simulations. For ferromagnetic next‐nearest‐neighboring (J2) interactions, the introduced exchange frustration enhances the effect of the DM interaction, which enlarges the ...

Topological phase separation in 2D hard-core Bose-Hubbard system away from half-filling [PDF]
We suppose that the doping of the 2D hard-core boson system away from half-filling may result in the formation of multi-center topological defect such as charge order (CO) bubble domain(s) with Bose superfluid (BS) and extra bosons both localized in ...

Skyrmion Crystal Induced by Four-Spin Interactions in Itinerant Triangular Magnets
We investigate the emergence of magnetic skyrmion crystals with swirling topological spin textures in itinerant magnets with an emphasis on momentum-resolved multi-spin interactions. By performing the simulated annealing for the effective spin model with

Temperature-driven transition from skyrmion to bubble crystals in centrosymmetric itinerant magnets
Interplay between itinerant electrons and localized spins in itinerant magnets gives rise to a variety of noncoplanar multiple- Q spin textures, such as the skyrmion, hedgehog, meron, and vortex.

Abstract We propose a new symmetry for the ground state of the skyrmion crystal. The minimum energy per baryon of a crystal having this symmetry is only 3.8% above the lower bound and 4% below the lowest energy per baryon obtained so far.

Quantum Skyrmions in Two-Dimensional Chiral Magnets
We study the quantum mechanics of magnetic skyrmions in the vicinity of the skyrmion-crystal to ferromagnet phase boundary in two-dimensional magnets. We show that the skyrmion excitation has an energy dispersion that splits into multiple bands due to ...
