International audienceThe Cycladic granitoids (Ikaria, Mykonos, Naxos, Kos, Lavrion, Serifos, Tinos) intruded the Aegean crust during a rather short period (17-10 Ma) compared to the much longer Oligo-Miocene crustal thinning phase (35 Ma to the Present).

Abstract The mechanisms underlying the patchy distribution of forearc megathrust earthquakes and arc volcanoes in subduction zones remain poorly understood. Here we present a high‐resolution seismic tomographic model of the Central American subduction zone, derived from a joint inversion of local body‐wave and teleseismic Rayleigh‐wave data.

Seismic Evidence for Slab Tearing Beneath the Indo‐Myanmar Subduction Zone
Abstract Slab tearing has been increasingly recognized as a key geodynamic process influencing the evolution of the eastern Himalayan syntaxis. However, whether, where and how the subducted Indian slab beneath the Indo‐Myanmar subduction zone has been torn remains poorly constrained.

A Postcolonial Critique of Tear Gas Use
Throughout the 20th and 21st century, there has been widespread acceptance of the use of tear gas against “uncivilized,” or otherwise “problematic” populations.

Chemically tuned thin elastomer slab [PDF]
We have considered a cholesteric elastomer slab whose thickness is smaller tan fifteen helix periods, immersed in a racemic solvent. We have calculated the reflectance and transmittance of obliquely incident circularly polarized light due to a ...

Aseismic Slip Along the Evaporite‐Rich Strike‐Slip Katouna‐Stamna Fault in Greece
Abstract Aseismic slip has been observed on many active faults globally, but its controlling mechanisms remain unclear. This study focuses on the NW‐striking, left‐lateral Katouna‐Stamna Fault in Western Greece. We use InSAR surface deformation measurements to confirm the presence of aseismic slip and compare this behavior with structural evidence from

Fault‐Controlled Plumbing System Beneath Lipari Volcanic Island Revealed by Seismic Matrix Imaging
Abstract Lipari Island hosts an active magmatic–hydrothermal system, but its deep plumbing architecture remains poorly resolved due to strong seismic scattering. We apply passive seismic matrix imaging to public vertical‐component cross‐correlation functions from the dense 2018 Lipari nodal array, recovering relative‐reflectivity structures to ∼10 km ...

Abstract We present a new 3D Hikurangi subduction interface model by using an implicit modeling approach that integrates seismic‐reflection profiles, relocated hypocenters, focal mechanism orientations, and tomographic interpretations. The model reveals along‐strike transitions in slow slip events (SSEs) that correlate with subduction interface ...

We present a chronological (K-Ar), petrologic and geochemical study (major and trace elements, Sr-Nd isotopes) of Middle Miocene (ca. 16-14 Ma) calc-alkaline rocks (basalts to andesites) extruded in the present-day back-arc region of Central Patagonia ...

Self‐Assembled Lipids as Soft Dielectrics
Self‐assembled lipid bilayers serve as soft dielectric materials for ultrathin electronics. Using liquid‐metal parallel‐plate junctions, the capacitance and dielectric breakdown of dehydrated lipid films are characterized. Dielectric behavior is controlled by lipid molecular structure, cholesterol content, and assembly conditions, providing molecular ...
