This paper proposes a novel control framework to ensure safety of a robotic swarm. A feedback optimization controller is capable of driving the swarm toward a target density while keeping risk‐zone exposure below a safety threshold. Theory and experiments show how safety is more effectively achieved for sparsely connected swarms.

The Lov\'asz Hinge: A Novel Convex Surrogate for Submodular Losses [PDF]
Learning with non-modular losses is an important problem when sets of predictions are made simultaneously. The main tools for constructing convex surrogate loss functions for set prediction are margin rescaling and slack rescaling.

Small Extended Formulations for Cyclic Polytopes
We provide an extended formulation of size O(log n)^{\lfloor d/2 \rfloor} for the cyclic polytope with dimension d and n vertices (i,i^2,\ldots,i^d), i in [n]. First, we find an extended formulation of size log(n) for d= 2. Then, we use this as base case

Accounting for animal health in efficiency analysis: An application to Swedish dairy farms
Abstract Poor animal health is a central concern in modern livestock production. Despite the necessity to incorporate animal health in efficiency analysis, the theoretical and empirical developments are limited on this subject. This article appropriately characterizes the axiomatic properties of animal health within a production framework.

ABSTRACT This paper presents a new hybrid model for predicting German electricity prices. The algorithm is based on a combination of Gaussian process regression (GPR) and support vector regression (SVR). Although GPR is a competent model for learning stochastic patterns within data and for interpolation, its performance for out‐of‐sample data is not ...

ABSTRACT In this work, a new event‐triggered adaptive first‐order sliding mode control method is proposed for nonlinear systems with constant time delays, modeled by interval type‐2 Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy systems. To handle matched disturbances with unknown upper bounds, a non‐overestimating adaptation strategy for the control coefficient is ...

A Sufficient Condition for Power Flow Insolvability with Applications to Voltage Stability Margins
For the nonlinear power flow problem specified with standard PQ, PV, and slack bus equality constraints, we present a sufficient condition under which the specified set of nonlinear algebraic equations has no solution.

Dynamic Pricing With Recommendation and Consumer Feedback
ABSTRACT A long‐lived seller sells a new product of unknown value by offering prices and recommendations to short‐lived consumers in continuous time. The seller receives consumer feedback about the product at a rate that increases with the instantaneous sales volume.
