Adsorption Characteristics of Surfactant on Slag in Alkali Activated Slag Cement System
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012Alkali activated slag cement was a new green cementing material with many performances. Whereas, high viscosity and bad workability of the fresh mixture were the matters to embarrass its application. For exploring the special superplasticizer, the adsorption characteristics of surfactant on slag was studied, by UV Vis Absorption Spectrum Method.

A procedure for modeling phase formation in the multicomponent CaO–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–FeO–Fe2O3 oxide system has been proposed. This procedure can be used to predict the equilibrium phase composition of both the refractory and refractory-slag systems in order to modify the chemical composition of smelter slags, improve the service life of the lining of the

Predicting slag viscosities in metallurgical systems
JOM, 2002Slag viscosity is a major process variable for most pyrometallurgical smelting and refining process operations. While extensive measurements have been made of slag viscosities, it is not practicable to provide data on all the possible combinations of compositions and process conditions encountered in metallurgical practice.

The reduction experiment of iron ore containing high Alumina content with petroleum coke was carried out in the temperature range of 1673 to 1773K by changing the slag composition. The sulfur and phosphorous content in the reduced iron nugget were measured to investigate the desulfurization and dephosphorization behavior during the reduction.

Effects of slag characteristics on sulfate durability of Portland cement-slag blended systems
Construction and Building Materials, 2019Abstract Sulfate resistance of Portland cement-slag mixtures was compared at 30, 50 and 70% cement replacement levels for slags with variable Al2O3 and MgO content and variable fineness in combination with moderate- and high-C3A cements. Sulfate resistance generally decreased with increasing slag Al2O3 content, although decreasing MgO also increased ...

Experiments were conducted to examine of nitrobenzene reduction by steel convert slag (SCS) with Fe(II) system. The results showed SCS with Fe(II) was an effective reductant for nitrobenzene at pH 5.5-6.5. Further analysis suggested Fe(II) was adsorbed by SCS through ion replacement with SCS-bound Ca(II).

The effect of blast furnace slag chemistry on carbonation characteristics of cement-slag systems
2022In order to compensate the limited availability of raw material resources and meet the growing demand for decreasing CO2 emissions during cement and concrete productions, a practical method is to decrease the clinker content in cement. This strategy mainly consists of substituting a part of the clinker with supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs ...

Slag Monitoring System for Combustion Chambers of Steam Boilers
Heat Transfer Engineering, 2009The computer-based boiler performance system presented in this article has been developed to provide a direct and quantitative assessment of furnace and convective surface cleanliness. Temperature, pressure, and flow measurements and gas analysis data are used to perform heat transfer analysis in the boiler furnace and evaporator.

Abstract This study collected four ground granulated blast furnace slags from different manufacturing locations for CaO-activation to investigate the influence of the slag characteristics on strength development and the reaction products. Despite the seemingly similar characteristics of the slags, each slag developed significantly different strengths
