Modelling of Slag Produced in Submerged Arc Welding
2020This study has been conducted to reveal the effects of flux composition on slag produced and wire consumption. RSM was used for designing the experiments. Mathematical modeling was done for the output in terms of flux composition. The study reveals that the slag produced is dependent upon the basicity index of the flux and CaF2 used as a flux ...

Slag-metal reactions during welding: Part II. Theory
Metallurgical Transactions B, 1991A kinetic model is developed to describe the transfer of alloying elements between the slag and the metal during flux-shielded welding. The model accounts for changes in alloy recovery based on the geometry of the resulting weld bead. It also distinguishes compositional differences between single-pass and multiple-pass weld beads.

Influence of weld slag aggregate in high-performance concrete
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Waste and Resource Management, 2016Rapid increase in urban infrastructural developments in developing countries such as India leads to the need for natural resources such as river sand. The accessibility of the natural resources is diminishing rapidly. At present, other sources of fine aggregates are in great demand.

Production of new welding fluxes based on silicomanganese slag
Welding International, 2018The properties of a welding flux based on the silicomanganese slag are investigated. The flux is produced using the slag formed in the production of silicomanganese with different ratios of the sla...

Corrosion of Furnace Tubes By Residual Welding Slag
Corrosion, 1960Describes case history of severe and rapid corrosion of hydrogen reforming furnace tubes during high temperature operation. Attack was caused by presence of residual welding slag, sulfur and reducing conditions. Welding slag played a primary role in this corrosion. Explains repairs and modifications taken to correct the corrosion problem.

Abstract To increase productivity, welding process with large heat input such as electro slag welding (ESW) process has been used to connect the joints between the diaphragm and the column plate in high-rise steel building. However, the heat input of ESW is much higher than those of the other welding processes, and the high heat input not only ...

Experimental Investigation on Electro-codeposition Nickel-Weld Slag Composite Coating
Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 2018Electro-codeposition process is considered to be an advanced technique for development of composite coatings. In this study, Ni-weld slag composite coatings are prepared from nickel Watts bath using electrodeposition process. It is a novel approach under the utilization of weld slag particles for the preparation of composite coatings which are composed

Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1996
Points out that the pitting resistance of welds in stainless steels is often inferior to the parent metals, and is an important factor to consider during the selection of materials of service in corrosive environments. Notes that an empirical pitting resistance equivalent (PRE), often expressed as PRE = % Cr + 3.3 × % Mo + 16 × % N, is used to rank ...
