Influence study of the energy-technological modes for hidden arc welding made from slag produced by silicomanganese on the physical and mechanical properties of the weld seam

Welding International, 2021
The influence of the welding energy-technological modes on the physical and mechanical properties of weld seams obtained by submerged arc welding, made on the basis of silicomanganese slag, is determined.

Fatigue Behavior of Butt Welds with Slag Inclusions

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1984
The results of an experimental study on the fatigue behavior of transverse welded steel butt joints containing slag inclusion discontinuities are presented. Twenty‐four constant amplitude zero‐to‐tension fatigue tests were conducted. The 5 in. (127 mm) wide by 1 in.

Some Feasibility Studies for Recycling of Steel Slag as a Useful Flux for Submerged Arc Welding

Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Systems, 2020
Protection of environment from industrialization and urbanization waste is the prime duty of engineers and researchers. Elimination of industrial waste completely is not possible because it is generally a byproduct of the process.

Influence of welding conditions and flux composition on chemistry of welds using recycled steel slag in submerged arc welding

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part E: Journal of Process Mechanical Engineering, 2023
The slag generated by steel-making plant has been employed to manufacture flux essential for submerged arc welding process. The developed flux has been used for depositing beads on plates, and the weld metal chemistry has been evaluated. The effect of welding conditions and flux composition on element transfer behavior has been investigated.

Slag-metal equilibrium during submerged arc welding

Metallurgical Transactions B, 1981
A thermodynamic model of the equilibria existing between the slag and the weld metal during submerged arc welding is presented. As formulated, the model applies only to fused neutral fluxes containing less than 20 pct CaF2, however some results indicate that the model may be useful in more general cases as well.

Reusability of metallurgical slag waste in submerged arc welding powder for hardfacing

, 2020
Slag waste generated during the metallurgical process in a ferrochromium plant in Elazig, Turkey, ferro alloys and other required ceramic based powders were mixed to obtain recycled powders produced by submerged arc welding using the agglomeration method.

Recycling of slag to act as a flux in submerged arc welding

Resources, Conservation and Recycling, 2009
Abstract The slag generated during submerged arc welding is thrown away as a waste. Non-biodegradable nature poses problems of storage, disposal, soil pollution and also needs landfill space for dumping. It cannot be used as a filling material in building construction or elsewhere being glassy and brittle material.
