Surface roughness effects on runoff and soil erosion rates under simulated rainfall [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Soil surface roughness is identified as one of the controlling factors governing runoff and soil loss. Yet, most studies pay little attention to soil surface roughness.

Disintegration, Salvation, and/or Madness in Dostoevsky

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies, Volume 23, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Psychological fragmentation and derangement suffuse Dostoevsky's fiction. This paper argues that the madness of Dostoevsky characters derives from intense wounds to the self: humiliating lacerations that impel fugue and disintegration. Such vulnerable, frangible characters seek to escape and deny themselves to avoid being seen for who they are.

石灰の湿式消化条件、熟成期間と粒度分布 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
During storage of slaked lime made by wet slaking,it is said that the particle size distribution might change. In order to find out the change in particle size distribution with the passage of time,we placed slaked lime in two types of containers: a ...

RETRACTED: Can the chemical industry solve the climate change? On the role of human energy production, renewable energies, and the potential of chemistry as a solution provider

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 98, Issue 3, Page 98-105, March 2026.
Let us consider an alternative perspective on climate change: The sum of solar radiation and heat generated by human activity result in a net energy input of 1.96 times that of the Sun on the Earth's surface. The expanding global population is expected to exacerbate this issue. Potential solutions are proposed, including replacement and heat recycling.

Early Use of Lime Mortar at the Early Iron Age Piscina Torta Salt Production Site (Tiber Delta, Ostia, Italy)

open access: yesGeoarchaeology, Volume 41, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents new evidence for the early use of lime mortar during the Early Iron Age at the Piscina Torta site (Ostia, Italy), situated on the earliest Holocene beach ridges in the southern Tiber delta. The site, which was earlier described as a briquetage site, dates from between the late 8th and 6th century BCE and consists of a large

Degradation and Decay of Rocks: Linking Wetting–Drying and Slake Durability Tests for Climate-Sensitive Maintenance

open access: yesGeotechnics
Soft and weak rocks present challenges for construction activities in various environments. Their genetic origin, geological and tectonic evolution, and exposure to atmospheric conditions control their weathering and degradation over time.

Fragipan Horizon Fragmentation in Slaking Experiments with Amendment Materials and Ryegrass Root Tissue Extracts

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Slaking experiments were conducted of fragipan clods immersed in solutions of poultry manure, aerobically digested biosolid waste (ADB), fluidized bed combustion byproduct (FBC), D-H2O, CaCO3, NaF, Na-hexa-metaphosphate, and ryegrass root biomass.
