Slave particle approach to the finite temperature properties of ultracold Bose gases in optical lattices

open access: yes, 2006
By using slave particle (slave boson and slave fermion) technique on the Bose-Hubbard model, we study the finite temperature properties of ultracold Bose gases in optical lattices.

Design Optimization of a Variable Stiffness Robotic Gripper with Passive Restoration Fabricated by Multimaterial 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimaterial robotic gripper fabricated via multimaterial 3D printing integrates conductive thermopolymer joints with flexible elastomeric components. Joule heating enables precise joint‐level stiffness modulation, enhanced by embedded temperature sensors, passive shape restoration, and active cooling, enabling versatile manipulation capabilities ...

Slave-particle quantization and sum rules in the t-J model

open access: yes, 1994
In the framework of constrained systems, we give the classical Hamiltonian formulation of slave-particle models and their correct quantization. The electron-momentum distribution function in the t-J and Hubbard models is then studied in the framework of ...

Comment on ``Confinement of slave particles in U(1) gauge theories of strongly interacting electrons" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In a recent Letter, Nayak argued that slave partices are always confined in gauge theories of strongly-correlated electron systems like the t-J model.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

Connectivity-Preserving Swarm Teleoperation With A Tree Network

open access: yes, 2019
During swarm teleoperation, the human operator may threaten the distance-dependent inter-robot communications and, with them, the connectivity of the slave swarm. To prevent the harmful component of the human command from disconnecting the swarm network,

Challenges and Future Directions in Assessing the Quality and Completeness of Advanced Materials Safety Data for Re‐Usability: A Position Paper From the Nanosafety Community

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
Nanosafety data provide a guiding example for establishing best practices in data management, aligning with FAIR principles and quality criteria. This review explores existing quality assessment approaches for reliability, relevance, and completeness, emphasizing the need for harmonization and adaptation to nanomaterials and advanced materials. The aim

Anticipated synchronization in coupled inertia ratchets with time-delayed feedback: a numerical study

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate anticipated synchronization between two periodically driven deterministic, dissipative inertia ratchets that are able to exhibit directed transport with a finite velocity. The two ratchets interact through an unidirectional delay coupling:
