Assessment and management of over-activity and sleep disorder in mucopolysaccharidoses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
There is a growing awareness, based on both research and clinical studies, that abnormal sleep and circadian functioning are associated with the various forms of mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS), with sleep respiratory problems seemingly common in many forms ...

Respiratory‐Limbic Coupling via a Thalamic Circuit Alleviates Anxiety

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study delineates a conserved preBötCGlu→PVT→CeA circuit that gates anxiety and respiration. Activation of this circuit is anxiolytic and respiratory‐stabilizing, while its inhibition has the opposite effect. Mechanistically, PVT exerts its anxiolytic action via a disinhibitory microcircuit: its inputs preferentially target CeL GABAergic neurons ...

Intracellular Aβ42 Sequestration by a Serine Protease Mitigates Neurotoxicity in a Drosophila Alzheimer's Disease Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Emerging evidence suggests that intraneuronal Aβ accumulation represents an early pathogenic event in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Using Drosophila AD model, this study shows that a nonsecreted serine protease Yip7 physically interacts with Aβ. This causes intraneuronal Aβ accumulation but surprisingly reduces the associated neurotoxicity, arguing that ...

Sleep disturbance and hypertension mediated by systemic inflammatory response index in NHANES

open access: yesScientific Reports
Both hypertension and sleep disturbance have been closely linked to inflammation. However, the specific role of inflammation in the relationship between sleep disturbance and hypertension remains unclear. We investigated the pairwise associations among a

Interoceptive Awareness Mediates Effects of Sleep Disturbance on Pain Outcomes in Chronic Pain Patients

open access: yesIntegrative Medicine Reports
Background: Sleep disorders are common in adults with chronic pain and are multifactorial. Recent evidence suggest sleep disturbance may affect interoceptive awareness (IA) in healthy adults.

H2S‐Releasing Aspirin Nanoparticles Alleviate Endometriosis and Associated Anxiety

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Albumin nanoparticles loaded with an H2S‐releasing aspirin derivative (ACS14) hitchhiking neutrophils after intraperitoneal injection and preferentially accumulate in endometriosis lesions in mice. The treatment suppresses lesion growth by regulating PI3K/Akt and reduces inflammation by inhibiting NF‐κB.

A Guide for Spatial Omics Technologies: Innovation, Evaluation, and Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review presents a strategy‐centric framework for spatial omics technologies, organizing methods by how spatial information is experimentally encoded. It compares key performance trade‐offs across sequencing‐ and imaging‐based approaches, examines computational and practical limitations, and highlights biomedical applications. The analysis provides
