Age‐Related Characteristics of SYT1‐Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives We describe the clinical manifestations and developmental abilities of individuals with SYT1‐associated neurodevelopmental disorder (Baker‐Gordon syndrome) from infancy to adulthood. We further describe the neuroradiological and electrophysiological characteristics of the condition at different ages, and explore the associations ...

THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN SLEEP DURATION AND DEMENTIA: A META-ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the United States, the current cases of Alzheimer’s disease will double by 2050. Therefore, it is important to study risk factors associated with dementia such as sleep duration.

Sleep duration, sleep variability, and impairments of visual attention [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Attentional networks are sensitive to sleep deprivation. However, variation in attentional performance as a function of normal sleep parameters is under-studied.

Sleep duration and life satisfaction [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Review of Economics, 2015
Sleep is an important part of life. Despite this importance, little is known about life satisfaction and sleep duration. Using German panel data, it is shown that sleep is an important factor for life satisfaction and, furthermore, that maximal life satisfaction is associated with about 8 h of sleep on a typical weekday.

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Association of Objective and Self‐Reported Sleep Duration With All‐Cause and Cardiovascular Disease Mortality: A Community‐Based Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2023
Background Previous studies found an association between self‐reported sleep duration and mortality. This study aimed to compare the effects of objective and self‐reported sleep duration on all‐cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality.

Low estradiol levels in women of reproductive age having low sleep variation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Higher exposure to light at night per se and through decrease in sleep duration and night shift work may suppress serum melatonin levels, which in turn may increase the reproductive hormone levels.

Prognostic Implications of Sleep Architecture for Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit With Status Epilepticus

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Status epilepticus (SE) is associated with significant mortality. Sleep architecture may reflect normal brain function. Impaired sleep architecture is associated with poorer outcomes in numerous conditions. Here we investigate the association of sleep architecture in continuous EEG (cEEG) with survival in SE.
