Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Heave and pitch motions in shallow water including the effect of forward speed [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The problem of small heave and pitch motions of a slender ship in shallow water including the effect of forward speed is analysed using the method of matched asymptotic expansions. Formulae valid to first order in slenderness are given for the added-mass

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Slenderness coefficient of five major tree species in the Hyrcanian forests of Iran [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات جنگل و صنوبر ایران, 2007
Slenderness coefficient of trees, defined as the ratio of total height to diameter at breast  height (DBH), is frequently used as resistance index of trees to wind throw.

A Comprehensive Overview of the Clinical, Electrophysiological, and Neuroimaging Features of BPAN: Insights From a New Case Series

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) comprises a genetically and clinically heterogeneous group of rare neurological disorders characterized particularly by iron accumulation in the basal ganglia. To date, 15 genes have been associated with NBIA.

Modified beam theories for bending properties of nanowires considering surface/intrinsic effects and axial extension effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Several studies of the surface effect on bending properties of a nanowire (NW) have been conducted. However, these analyses are mainly based on theoretical predictions, and there is seldom integration study in combination between theoretical predictions ...

Lessons Learned: Quality Analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography in Neuromyelitis Optica

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Optical coherence tomography (OCT)‐derived retina measurements are markers for neuroaxonal visual pathway status. High‐quality OCT scans are essential for reliable measurements, but their acquisition is particularly challenging in eyes with severe visual impairment, as often observed in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders ...

Constructions of health, weight and bodily appearance among Indo-Fijian women across three generations : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Psychology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Discursive constructions of a 'thin ideal' body shape today have often associated the slender body to the idea of a 'healthy weight' and physical beauty.

Cavity flow past a slender pointed hydrofoil [PDF]

open access: yes, 1961
A slender-body theory for the flow past a slender, pointed hydrofoil held at a small angle of Attack to the flow, with a cavity on the upper surface, has been worked out.
