Overlapping sliced inverse regression for dimension reduction [PDF]
Sliced inverse regression (SIR) is a pioneer tool for supervised dimension reduction. It identifies the effective dimension reduction space, the subspace of significant factors with intrinsic lower dimensionality. In this paper, we propose to refine the SIR algorithm through an overlapping slicing scheme. The new algorithm, called overlapping SIR (OSIR)

Technical Note: Functional sliced inverse regression to infer temperature, water vapour and ozone from IASI data [PDF]
A retrieval algorithm that uses a statistical strategy based on dimension reduction is proposed. The methodology and details of the implementation of the new algorithm are presented and discussed. The algorithm has been applied to high resolution spectra

Quantitative Evaluation of Defect Based on Ultrasonic Guided Wave and CHMM
The axial length of pipe defects is not linear with the reflection coefficient, which is difficult to identify the axial length of the defect by the reflection coefficient method.

A method for analyzing censored survival phenotype with gene expression data
Background Survival time is an important clinical trait for many disease studies. Previous works have shown certain relationship between patients' gene expression profiles and survival time.

Robust Sliced Inverse Regression Procedures [PDF]
Sliced Inverse Regression (SIR) is a promising technique for the purpose of dimension reduction. Several properties of this relatively new method have been examined already, but little attention has been paid to robustness aspects. We show that SIR is very sensitive towards outliers in the data. Therefore a generalized estimation procedure which allows

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Advancing Age Modulates Associations Between Cognitive Impairment and Brain Volumes in Early MS
ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis (MS), but manifestations following the first demyelinating event are relatively unexplored. We investigated cross‐sectional associations between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)–derived brain volumes and the presence of cognitive impairment outcomes five years after the first ...
