Time-Step Analysis of Sliding Mesh Rotation Modeling

SAE International Journal of Passenger Vehicle Systems
<div>The current work analyzes the effect of time-step size on the predictive capability and computational cost of the Sliding Mesh (SM) method for modeling flows around the rotating wheels of a mass-production luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Crack face contact, frictional sliding and mesh design flexibility

Communications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2005
AbstractPhysical loading sometimes causes crack face contact and frictional sliding. The relative sliding of the face induces modes II and III types of stress intensities at the crack tip region. This paper discusses domain integral method of calculating the J integral when crack face contact and sliding by friction are considered for general cracked ...

Investigation of Propeller-Wing Interaction Based on the Sliding Mesh Technology

2010 Second International Conference on Modeling, Simulation and Visualization Methods, 2010
The aerodynamic characteristics of propeller-wing interaction for the Rocket Launched UAV were simulated numerically based on the High Performance Computing Cluster System by means of sliding mesh technology. The results showed that the effects on the wing made by the rotating propeller were much notable.

Unsteady flow simulations using unstructured sliding meshes

Fluid Dynamics Conference, 1994
grid quality and therefore corrective measures have to be incorporated into the algorithms. However, for a large class of Techniques for numerical simulation of unsteady flow probproblems of practical interest, the direction of motion of the lems using translatingand/orrotatingunsuucturedmeshes are components is known a priori and remeshing can be ...

Efficient use of the local discontinuous Galerkin method for meshes sliding on a circular boundary

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2002
In this paper, the coupling of discontinuous finite elements (FEs) with standard conforming ones is applied to the special case of rotating electrical machines. The proposed scheme exploits the capability of discontinuous methods of dealing with non-matching grids, and the lower computational cost of conforming methods, by using first ones only where ...

Routing fault-tolerant sliding scheduled traffic in WDM optical mesh networks

2008 5th International Conference on Broadband Communications, Networks and Systems, 2008
This paper deals with the problem of routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) of fault-tolerant sliding scheduled lightpath demands (FSSLDs) in WDM optical mesh networks. Sliding scheduled traffic model allows the service provider and end-users to negotiate the starting time and ending time of the demands.

Performance characteristics of a pintle nozzle using the conformal sliding mesh technique

Aerospace Science and Technology, 2017
Abstract Numerical and non-linear internal ballistics analyses are conducted to investigate the performance characteristics of a pintle reciprocating in a nozzle. A conformal sliding mesh is successfully implemented to maintain smooth and continuous flow properties at the boundary of a moving pintle block.
