Aerodynamic Heating of Simple Geometries in the Slip - and Intermediate - Flow Regimes

Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1959
It was shown rather conclusively in reference 2 that , for a given Mach Number M, taper ratio X, and span-to-body-diameter ratio b/D, CNTU is a function of / only, independent of the number of fins. The purpose of the present note is to point out that this correlation can be made independent of Mach Number also, by the simple expedient of plotting ...

Numerical Simulation of Aerodynamic Flow within a Strong Magnetic Field with Hall Current and Ion Slip [PDF]

open access: possible38th Plasmadynamics and Lasers Conference, 2007
agneto-Fluid-Dynamics (MFD) offers a potential breakthrough in both hypersonic vehicle design and propulsion. Reductions in heat transfer to the vehicle, as well as strong flow control, appear possible. Magnetic fields may be important for enabling hypersonic vehicles to pass more efficiently and safely through the atmosphere.

Prediction of Pressure Drop & Aerodynamic Slip Velocity in the Established Zone in the Pneumatic Conveyance of Solids in the Horizontal Conduit

Indian Chemical Engineer, 2010
Abstract An expression for the pressure drop for the established zone of pneumatic conveying system has been derived by equating the gravitational force to the resistances offered to a particle moving with terminal settling velocity. The ratio of calculated and experimental pressure drop has been defined as K, which has been correlated in terms of ...

THEORETICAL AERODYNAMIC PROPERTIES FOR AN INCLINED FLAT PLATE IN SLIP FLOW [PDF]

open access: possible, 1952
Abstract : A theory concerning the drag coefficient for the flat plate at zero angle of attack in slip flow was extended to include the aerodynamic coefficients for drag, lift, and moment at very small angles of attack. The lift coefficient may be taken to equal the skin-friction coefficient.

Effects of Higher Order Derivatives on Unsteady Aerodynamics of NACA0012 Airfoil Associated with Transonic Forced Motions

2024 10th Asia Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering (MEAE)
Accurate and efficient unsteady aerodynamic model is of great importance during initial aircraft design process as the characteristics of flight dynamics and control system design are closely related to unsteady aerodynamics of an aircraft.

Aerodynamic films between carbon brushes and slip-rings

Wear, 1962
Experiments have been made to determine the conditions under which air films are formed between electrographite brushes and slip-rings. It is shown that aerodynamic pressures both above and below atmospheric can exist when the brush is inclined to the slip-ring at angles between 1.10−3 and 5.10−2 rad.

Investigation on pressure drop evolution of fibrous filter operating in aerodynamic slip regime under continuous loading of sub-micron aerosols

Separation and Purification Technology, 2008
Abstract The aim of this study is to experimentally investigate pressure drop and filtration efficiency of fibrous filters operating in aerodynamic slip regime under continuous loading of sub-micron aerosols. Test aerosol is sodium chloride (NaCl) particulates with electrical mobility diameter (EMD) ranging from 41 to 514 nm generated from ...
