Integral expression is derived for aerodynamic forces in unsteady separated flows of an incompressible Newtonian fluid via the characteristics of the flow on the body surface including the vortex flux generated by it. The expression obtained is valid for unsteady and steady flows under the no-slip or the partial slip boundary conditions in a viscous ...

Abstract The wall suction & slip effect of the bionic metasurface with periodic spherical grooves on the vehicle body surface is proposed for aerodynamic noise control, and physical mechanism is investigated by theoretical analysis and simulation. When fluid flows through the grooved vehicle body surface, wall suction effect occurs due to clockwise ...

The Aerodynamic Characteristics of a WRC Rally Car at High Slip Angles
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2004<div class="htmlview paragraph">Rally cars are frequently operated at high speeds on loose road surfaces and significant slip angles are achieved when cornering. A wind tunnel test procedure is presented which allows those slip angles to be accommodated whilst maintaining contact between the tires and the wind tunnel's moving ground plane.

Abstract The paper presents a numerical study on the aerodynamics of a biradial turbine for wave energy conversion. The turbine is symmetrical with respect to a plane perpendicular to its axis of rotation. The two inlet/outlet rotor openings are axially offset from each other facing the radial direction and two rows of radial-flow movable guide-vanes

Aerodynamic Heating of Simple Geometries in the Slip - and Intermediate - Flow Regimes
Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1959It was shown rather conclusively in reference 2 that , for a given Mach Number M, taper ratio X, and span-to-body-diameter ratio b/D, CNTU is a function of / only, independent of the number of fins. The purpose of the present note is to point out that this correlation can be made independent of Mach Number also, by the simple expedient of plotting ...

The effect of Maxwell slip on the aerodynamic collision and rebound of spherical particles
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1988Abstract A theoretical model is developed which predicts the relative velocity as a function of the gap distance between two small spheres colliding in a fluid. In lieu of the conventional no-slip fluid boundary conditions, a Maxwell slip-flow approximation is employed when the distance between the particles reduces to the same order of magnitude as ...
