agneto-Fluid-Dynamics (MFD) offers a potential breakthrough in both hypersonic vehicle design and propulsion. Reductions in heat transfer to the vehicle, as well as strong flow control, appear possible. Magnetic fields may be important for enabling hypersonic vehicles to pass more efficiently and safely through the atmosphere.

Abstract : A theory concerning the drag coefficient for the flat plate at zero angle of attack in slip flow was extended to include the aerodynamic coefficients for drag, lift, and moment at very small angles of attack. The lift coefficient may be taken to equal the skin-friction coefficient.
