Large variation in the boundary-condition slippage for a rarefied gas flowing between two surfaces

open access: yes, 2011
We study the slippage of a gas along mobile rigid walls in the sphere-plane confined geometry and find that it varies considerably with pressure. The classical no-slip boundary condition valid at ambient pressure changes continuously to an almost perfect

Impact of nanoparticle shapes on the heat transfer properties of Cu and CuO nanofluids flowing over a stretching surface with slip effects: A computational study

open access: yesOpen Physics
This study investigates thermally radiative nanofluid flows on an elongating surface using porous media. The flow dynamics are affected by the combined impacts of exponential and thermally dependent heat sources.

Conductive Bonding and System Architectures for High‐Performance Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review outlines bonding technologies and structural design strategies that support high‐performance flexible and stretchable electronics. Bonding approaches such as surface‐activated bonding and anisotropic conductive films, together with system‐level architectures including buffer layers and island‐bridge structures, possess distinct mechanical ...

On the critical character of plasticity in metallic single crystals

open access: yes, 2005
Previous acoustic emission (AE) experiments on ice single crystals, as well as numerical simulations, called for the possible occurrence of self-organized criticality (SOC) in collective dislocation dynamics during plastic deformation. Here, we report AE

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

The Elasticity of Derived Demand, FactorSubstitution and Product Demand: Corrections to Hicks’ Formula and Marshall’s Four Rules [PDF]

open access: yes
Nearly 75 years ago, John Hicks introduced and formalized the concept of the elasticity of substitution between capital and labour and its relation to derived demand.

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

Research on Stick-slip Vibration Level Estimation of Drillstring Based on SVM

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2019
To evaluate the severity of stick-slip vibration of drill string, a risk assessment method based on factor analysis (FA) and support vector machine (SVM) is proposed.
