Analysis of Influence Factors on Sludge Wall Slip
2011 International Conference on Computer and Management (CAMAN), 2011Wall slip behavior of sludge was studied experimentally by using a rotational rhehometer with parallel plate fixtures and checking the possible influence factors on sludge wall slip based on the gap dependence of the stress/ strain data. In the steady shearing flow it was found that there seems to be no critical shear stress for the onset of slip of ...

Factors associated with worker slipping in limited-service restaurants
Injury Prevention, 2010ObjectiveSlips, trips and falls (STF) are responsible for a substantial injury burden in the global workplace. Restaurant environments are challenged by STF. This study assessed individual and work environment factors related to slipping in US limited-service restaurant workers.MethodsWorkers in 10 limited-service restaurants in Massachusetts were ...

Experimental Evaluation of the Cyclic Slip Irreversibility Factor
Key Engineering Materials, 2011Cyclic slip irreversibility is one of the most important features of fatigue processes in ductile metals because it induces surface relief evolutions during cycling which are mainly responsible for crack initiation. The reversible and irreversible parts of the slip within persistent slip bands (PSBs) in polycrystalline nickel are measured directly ...

Blade Thickness Effect on Impeller Slip Factor
Volume 7: Turbomachinery, Parts A, B, and C, 2010A numerical study of the effect of the blade thickness on centrifugal impeller slip factor is presented in this paper. The CFD results show that generally the slip factor decreases as the blade thickness increases. Changing the thickness at different locations has different effects on the slip factor.

Friction Factor Correlations of Slip Flow in Micro-Tubes
ASME 5th International Conference on Nanochannels, Microchannels, and Minichannels, 2007Poiseuille number, the product of friction factor and Reynolds number (f·Re) for quasi-fully developed flow in a micro-tube was obtained in slip flow regime. The numerical methodology is based on the Arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method. Two-dimensional compressible momentum and energy equations were solved for a wide range of Reynolds and Mach ...

Ultra-long-term slip-resistance and comments to the test procedure determining the slip factor
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2019Abstract If a shear loaded joint is subjected to impact, vibration and/or load reversal, slip-resistant connections (Category B or C) with preloaded bolts are recommended to prevent effectively movement of the connected parts. The slip-resistance is mainly influenced by the characteristic of the faying surfaces and the preload of the bolts.

The Slip Factor of a Radial Bladed Centrifugal Compressor
Journal of Engineering for Power, 1965Several of the methods of explaining and evaluating the slip factor of a centrifugal impeller with straight radial blades are presented. The slip factors are calculated by these methods and compared to the experimentally observed characteristics of an impeller with 19 blades. It is shown that the slip factor depends on the gas-flow rate, the rotational

A New Slip Factor Model for Axial and Radial Impellers
Volume 6: Turbo Expo 2007, Parts A and B, 2007This paper proposes a unified slip model for axial, radial, and mixed flow impellers. For many years, engineers designing axial and radial turbomachines have applied completely different deviation or slip factor models. For axial applications, the most commonly used deviation model has been Carter’s rule or its derivatives.

A Unified Correlation for Slip Factor in Centrifugal Impellers
Journal of Turbomachinery, 2005A method that unifies the trusted centrifugal impeller slip factor prediction methods of Busemann, Stodola, Stanitz, Wiesner, Eck, and Csanady in one equation is presented. The simple analytical method derives the slip velocity in terms of a single relative eddy (SRE) centered on the rotor axis instead of the usual multiple (one per blade passage ...
