Planar Stretching Flows with Partial Slip
2013 15th International Symposium on Symbolic and Numeric Algorithms for Scientific Computing, 2013The investigation deals with the slip effects on the problem of viscous incompressible flows induced by a stretching sheet. This problem correspond to the planar stretching. The flow is governed by a third-order nonlinear boundary value problem which has been solved by Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method (OHAM).

AbstractSlip flow in ducts occurs in many practical fluid transport situations. The method of eigenfunction expansion and collocation is used to solve the velocity distribution for slip flow in ducts of polygonal, elliptic and cuspidal cross sections. The friction factor‐ Reynolds number products are tabulated.

A solution is presented for the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid in the entrance region of an annulus with slip occurring at the walls. The condition is imposed that the pressure drop found from momentum considerations should be the same as that from mechanical energy considerations.

Slip and Flow in Soft Particle Pastes
Physical Review Letters, 2004Concentrated dispersions of soft particles are shown to exhibit a generic slip behavior near smooth surfaces. Slip results from a balance between osmotic forces and noncontact elastohydrodynamic interaction between the squeezed particles and the wall. A model is presented that predicts the slip properties and provides insight into the behavior of the ...

Oscillatory Magnetogasdynamics Slip Flow in a Microchannel
48th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting Including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2010The problem of pressure-driven magnetogasdynamic (MGD) slip flow with small rarefaction through a long microchannel is considered. The flow is driven by a steady or oscillatory pressure gradient. The study of MGD flows in microchannels is of interest since they occur in many electromagnetic microscale devices. In obtaining the microfluidic solutions in

To Slip or Not to Slip: Water Flows in Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic Microchannels
Electronic and Photonic Packaging, Electrical Systems Design and Photonics, and Nanotechnology, 2002The slip effects of water flow in hydrophilic and hydrophobic microchannels of 1 and 2 μm depth are examined experimentally. Fabrication processes for silicon/Pyrex microchannels were chosen to ensure good control of the channel height and to obtain atomically smooth surfaces. Hydrophilic surfaces were prepared with an RCA-1 cleaning, while hydrophobic

Viscous Compressible Slip Flows. Part 2 : Meshless Solver for Rotating Slip Flows
International Journal of Emerging Multidisciplinary Fluid Sciences, 2011The Part 1 presented kinetic treatment of the slip flow and described kinetic flux vector splitting. The Part 2 of the paper presents the kinetic theory based approach for solving rotating slip flows. The paper describes numerical flow modeling of slip and rarefied flows. It also presents the meshless solver which makes use of least squares and Kinetic

Slip mechanisms in complex fluid flows
Soft Matter, 2015The classical no-slip boundary condition of fluid mechanics is not always a valid assumption for the flow of several classes of complex fluids including polymer melts, their blends, polymer solutions, microgels, glasses, suspensions and pastes.
