Effects of surface charge and boundary slip on time-periodic pressure-driven flow and electrokinetic energy conversion in a nanotube

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2019
Time-periodic pressure-driven slip flow and electrokinetic energy conversion efficiency in a nanotube are studied analytically. The slip length depends on the surface charge density.

Analytical calculation of slip flow in lattice Boltzmann models with kinetic boundary conditions

open access: yes, 2004
We present a mathematical formulation of kinetic boundary conditions for Lattice Boltzmann schemes in terms of reflection, slip, and accommodation coefficients. It is analytically and numerically shown that, in the presence of a non-zero slip coefficient,

Electro-osmosis on anisotropic super-hydrophobic surfaces

open access: yes, 2011
We give a general theoretical description of electro-osmotic flow at striped super-hydrophobic surfaces in a thin double layer limit, and derive a relation between the electro-osmotic mobility and hydrodynamic slip-length tensors.

Blasius and Sakiadis slip flow of H2O–C2H6O2 (50:50) based nanoliquid with different geometry of boehmite alumina nanoparticles

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2019
The geometry of the nanoparticles in nanoliquids has significant influence in many engineering and bio medical applications and also the classical flow problems such as Blasius and Sakiadis problems are important in industrial applications.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Analytical Solutions for Unsteady Pipe Flows with Slip Boundary Condition

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2020
In this paper analytical expressions for time-dependent velocity profiles and pressure gradient are obtained for fully-developed laminar flows with given volume flow-rate conditions in circular pipe flows with slip boundary conditions.

Transient pressure-driven electrokinetic slip flow and heat transfer through a microannulus

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
To guarantee the transporting efficiency of microdevices associated with fluid transportation, mixing, or separation and to promote the heat transfer performance of heat exchangers in microelectronics, the hydrodynamic behaviors at the unsteady state as ...

A group theoretic analysis on heat transfer in MHD thermally slip Carreau fluid subject to multiple flow regimes (MFRs)

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
It is well believed that computational modelling is the best remedy to study heat transfer in complicated manmade or naturally occurring phenomena claimed in general sciences. Therefore, owning such an important belief, we proposed mathematical modelling

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...
