Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Probe light-shift elimination in Generalized Hyper-Ramsey quantum clocks

open access: yes, 2016
We present a new interrogation scheme for the next generation of quantum clocks to suppress frequency-shifts induced by laser probing fields themselves based on Generalized Hyper-Ramsey resonances.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.

Methods of Assessment and Clinical Relevance of QT Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The dependence on heart rate of the QT interval has been investigated for many years and several mathematical formulae have been proposed to describe the QT interval/heart rate (or QT interval/RR interval) relationship. While the most popular is Bazett’s

Vertex radius of curvature error measurement of aspheric surface based on slope asphericity in partial compensation interferometry.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2017
Vertex radius of curvature (VROC) is an important shape parameter used to determine the properties of an optical aspheric surface. Precise measurement of VROC error is critical for manufacturing and aligning optical aspheric surfaces.

Positive selection underlies Faster-Z evolution of gene expression in birds. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The elevated rate of evolution for genes on sex chromosomes compared to autosomes (Fast-X or Fast-Z evolution) can result either from positive selection in the heterogametic sex, or from non-adaptive consequences of reduced relative effective population ...
