The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

The stability of thawing slopes
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1974As a result of recent field exploration and study in the Mackenzie River Valley between Fort Simpson and Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., coupled with a review of the periglacial literature it is evident that thaw plays an important role in a wide range of landslide types associated with permafrost. This study seeks first to present a description of the most ...

Stability of Slopes and Subdifferentials
Set-Valued Analysis, 2003Given a Banach space \(X\) and a function \(f:X\rightarrow\mathbb{R\cup \{+\infty\}}\), its slope is the function defined by \(\text{slope} f(x)=\lim\sup_{y\rightarrow x,y\neq x}\frac{(f(x)-f(y))^{+}}{\left\| x-y\right\| }\) where \(\alpha^{+}=\max\{0,\alpha\}\) for \(x\in \text{dom}f\), while \(\text{slope}f(x)=+\infty\) for \(x\notin\text{dom}f\). Slope stability and stabilization
2004Tropical residual soils are derived from in situ weathering and decomposition of rock and have characteristics that are quite different from those of transported soils. Some methods commonly adopted in Malaysia for slope stabilization work are discussed, highlighting good practices and relevant design guidelines. Some aspects on measurement of strength

There are more and more side slope problems and slope engineering problems every day along with the increase in human activity. These will be the most common geotechnical engineering problems needing to be addressed in the natural geological environment.

Abstract Traditional analyses of earth slope stability are based on equilibrium considerations of “slices” into which the collapsing soil mass is divided. Such analyses require some static assumptions so that the system of equilibrium equations becomes determinate.
