Study on Evaluation of High Slope Stability and Countermeasures Based on GEO-SLOPE
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Based on the theory of limit equilibrium, by the GEO-SLOPE software, analyzed the stability before and after reinforcement of a high Loess-bedrock slope. The results and conclusions show: (1)Analyzed and Optimized the high Loess-bedrock slope through SLOPE/W module, optimizing the engineering quantity of the anchor cable frame in the local and saving ...

Evaluating the effect of slope curvature on slope stability by a numerical analysis
Australian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2013This paper investigates, using three-dimensional numerical modelling, the stability of curvature-based nine general hillslope types created by combining three profile and three lateral curvatures. The results show that the hillslopes with a concave profile curvature possess the highest pore-water pressure along the axial line, and hillslopes with a ...

Evaluation of Pile Application for Slopes on Bedrock Stability
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015This paper presents a numerical study that performs the stability of slopes on bedrock reinforced with single pile row at different locations. The slope is formed of top sliding soil layer that underlies over rock. The numerical analysis has been implemented by employing the three dimensional analysis using FLAC3D. The results indicate that as the pile

Stochastic evaluation of heterogeneous slope stability
Rivista Italiana di Geotecnica, 2004The influence of heterogeneity of undrained shear strength is investigated for simple slope stability problems, by linking finite elements and random field theory within a Monte Carlo framework. In particular, simple probabilistic and stochastic approaches are compared for various slope geometries.

Evaluating stability of anisotropically deposited soil slopes
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2019Natural soils often exhibit an anisotropic fabric pattern as a result of soil deposition, weathering or filling. This study aims to investigate the effects of spatially variable anisotropic soil fabric in a slope on its safety factor and failure mechanisms, and to identify the critical fabric orientation that is most unfavorable to the slope stability.

Slope Stability Evaluation Based on PSO-PP
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014Evaluation of slope stability is a complex system problem with uncertainties. Based on the Projection Pursuit (PP), the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and the Logistic Curve Function (LCF), a new model for evaluation of slope stability is developed, which is referred as Projection Pursuit based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO-PP).

When heavy rainfall occurs in mountainous areas, the water level in streams rises, and the flow velocity increases, result in the enhancement of erosive capacity. As the fast-flowing water approaches the riverbanks, the stability of the riverbank slopes may reduce due to toe scour. It may further lead to the occurrence of near-bank landslides.

Evaluating the influence of rate of undercutting on the stability of slopes
Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 2006Cut slopes of alternating soft and hard layers along roads in Jordan are subject to differential weathering, erosion and human activities. This can result in undercutting, leading to rockfalls that endanger traffic. The factors affecting the rate of undercutting and the influence of this on the stability of ten selected road cuts along the Amman–Irbid ...
