Evaluation of slope stability of railway embankments
2005The results of the experimental and theoretical researches of slope stability of railway embankments are presented in the paper. The conclusions of criteria of similarity for modeling of the serviceability of railway embankments on geotechnical centrifuges under the vibro-dynamical loads from a train.

Stochastic evaluation of heterogeneous slope stability
Rivista Italiana di Geotecnica, 2004The influence of heterogeneity of undrained shear strength is investigated for simple slope stability problems, by linking finite elements and random field theory within a Monte Carlo framework. In particular, simple probabilistic and stochastic approaches are compared for various slope geometries.

Slope stability evaluation using Back Propagation Neural Networks
Engineering Geology, 2005The Yudonghe landslide, located in western Hubei Province of China, consists of eastern and western subunits as well as a main landslide mass with upper and lower slip surfaces. As an important landslide close to Shuibuya Dam on the Qing River, its stability is crucial, as the slide might reactivate because of a change in ground-water level caused by ...

Evaluation Method for Slope Stability under Multianchor Support
Natural Hazards Review, 2015AbstractThe multianchor support way is constantly adopted to reinforce the slope with soft layers, improve the mechanical behavior and enhance the load-bearing capacity of rock mass. To implement the optimal design for the anchorage system consisting of pretensioned anchors, the potential sliding planes in actual slope need to be found and the ...

Evaluating slope stability uncertainty using coupled Markov chain
Computers and Geotechnics, 2016Abstract Geological uncertainty appears in the form of one soil layer embedded in another or the inclusion of pockets of different soil type within a more uniform soil mass. Uncertainty in factor of safety (FS) and probability of failure (Pf) of slope induced by the geological uncertainty is not well studied in the past.

Evaluation of risk factor for slope stability analysis
2021Safety factors in geotechnical engineering, as in other fields of engineering, are utilized to assure sufficient safety against the uncertainity in the material properties and analysis methods. The values chosen for the safety factors depend on the available data and the engineering experience and may vary from one case to the other.

Probabilistic Stability Evaluation of Oppstadhornet Rock Slope, Norway
Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2008Probabilistic analyses provide rational means to treat the uncertainties associated with underlying parameters in a systematic manner. The stability of a 734-m-high jointed rock slope in the west of Norway, the Oppstadhornet rock slope, is investigated by using a probabilistic method.

Guidelines for Evaluating Water in Pit Slope Stability
2013Guidelines for Evaluating Water in Pit Slope Stability is a comprehensive account of the hydrogeological procedures that should be followed when performing open pit slope stability design studies. Created as an outcome of the Large Open Pit (LOP) project, an international research and technology transfer project on the stability of rock slopes in open ...
