SLOSHING FREQUENCIES

The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, 1993
The normal frequencies of oscillation of a fluid inside certain containers are calculated by expressing the velocity potential as a linear combination of harmonic functions each of which satisfies the free-surface boundary condition. The unknown coefficients are then determined by the application of the bottom boundary condition. This is done for three

Sloshing frequencies

ZAMP Zeitschrift fr angewandte Mathematik und Physik, 1983
Calculations are made of the linear eigenvalue problem describing the sloshing of an ideal fluid in particular examples of two-dimensional containers, using a conformal mapping method. Bounds are found for the eigenvalues or sloshing frequencies. The method extends the range of examples beyond those calculated previously.

Sloshing cargo in silo vehicles

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2009
The driving stability of silo vehicles is significantly affected by the type of cargo that is transported and the design of the tank. Cargo motion can have both beneficial and negative aspects in terms of driving stability and braking performance. Neglecting the influence of the dynamically moving cargo in driving simulations of silo vehicles leads to ...

Experimental study on sloshing and non-sloshing road cargoes dynamics

International Journal of Heavy Vehicle Systems, 2010
This paper summarises the findings of an experimental investigation aimed at comparative evaluation of the modal response and rollover trends in sloshing and non-sloshing cargo vehicles, as a function of the fill level. A key point in the applied methodology is that cargoes present similar properties concerning their mass density and static position of

Note on Linear Hydroelastic Sloshing

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1969
AbstractThe present paper deals with the general problem of hydroelastic sloshing of a liquid in a partially filled circular cylindrical container with either rigid walls and a flexible flat bottom or a rigid bottom and elastic walls. Free coupling oscillations of the tank‐liquid system are investigated including the effect of surface tension.
