Toward Highest Frequency, Phase‐Sensitive Electric Field Sensing Enabled by Plasmonic Circuits

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
An electromagnetic field sensor using an optical sensor head for distortion‐free, high‐sensitivity measurements with potential for high‐frequency operation is presented. The frequency response is enabled by an antenna‐integrated plasmonic modulator. The sensitivity is calculated, and optimizations to obtain thermal‐background‐limited sensitivity are ...

Ultra-Thin Compact Bidirectional S-Slot Antenna for 5G Communications

open access: yesTelecom
A compact and low-profile S-slot antenna for millimeter-wave wireless communication applications is presented in this paper. The antenna employs an S-shaped slot etched within a ground plane and excited by a hook-shaped microstrip feeding line to radiate

Eliminating stray radiation inside large area imaging arrays

open access: yes, 2018
With increasing array size, it is increasingly important to control stray radiation inside the detector chips themselves. We demonstrate this effect with focal plane arrays of absorber coupled Lumped Element microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors (LEKIDs)

On the Design of Plus Slotted Fractal Antenna Array

open access: yesOpen Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2016
A new technique which is a combination of fractal antenna and array antenna is presented to design Plus Slotted Fractal Antenna Array (PSFAA) in this paper. PSFAA with corporate feed operates at 2.5 GHz frequency. PSFAA is designed on FR4 substrate material with permittivity 4.4 and height 1.6 mm. PSFAA is designed up to 2nd iteration.

Leaf heat tolerance in a native Californian shrub responds in expected and unexpected ways to differences in range, season, and sunlight exposure

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Earth's ecosystems are experiencing wide‐ranging impacts from global climate change, including increased average and extreme temperatures. These temperature shifts can drastically affect plant physiology, threatening the future of even common plant species. Here, we focus on photosynthetic function in a native Southern California shrub species.
