Home range estimate of sloth bear using noninvasive camera-trap data
Ursus, 2023: Estimating home range size is an important aspect of ecological studies that helps in understanding species biology. The myrmecophagous sloth bear (Melursus ursinus) is one of the least studied large carnivores and is found in the Indian subcontinent ...

Scent-marking behavior by female sloth bears during estrus
Ursus, 2021The sloth bear (Melursus ursinus) is one of the least studied bears. Important aspects of sloth bear biology and ecology, such as reproductive physiology and behavior, are largely unknown. Increased scent-marking by anogenital rubbing during breeding season has been recorded in other bear species.

Picture recognition of food by sloth bears (Melursus ursinus)
Animal Cognition, 2019Pictures are often used in cognitive research to represent objects and many species have demonstrated the ability to recognize two-dimensional pictures as representations of their three-dimensional counterparts. However, for ursids picture recognition has been reported in only one study of a single 11-year-old female American black bear (Johnson-Ulrich
