Bioavailability of Magnesium and Potassium Salts Used as Potential Substitutes for Sodium Chloride in Human Nutrition — A Review

A high intake of sodium chloride contributes to hypertension. This review evaluates the bioavailability of potassium and magnesium salts as sodium chloride alternatives. Potassium chloride and citrate, as well as magnesium citrate and chloride, show good absorption.
