The constituent quark as a soliton in a linear sigma-model [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Lett. B393 (1997) 161-166, 1996
We study a stable, soliton-like solution in the linear $\sigma$-model where the chiral fields are coupled to a single massless nonstrange quark. We investigate a possibility that this solution represents the constituent quark of Georgi and Manohar. We show that its properties are indeed consistent with nucleon observables. Furthermore, we derive chiral

Challenges Facing Organised Interests Under a Populist Right-Wing Government in Slovenia

open access: yesPolitics and Governance, 2023
The development of organised interests (OIs) during the socialist period in Central and Eastern Europe was considerably limited, if not frozen. This was also somewhat the case in Slovenia, where it was mainly OIs close to the government that could ...

Freezing of spin dynamics in underdoped cuprates [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 79, 140504(R) (2009), 2009
The Mori's memory function approach to spin dynamics in doped antiferromagnetic insulator combined with the assumption of temperature independent static spin correlations and constant collective mode damping leads to w/T scaling in a broad range.

Orbitally-driven insulator-metal transition in CuIr$_2$S$_4$: Temperature dependent transient reflectivity study [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 101, 165134 (2020), 2020
Ultrafast transient reflectivity across the unusual three-dimensional Peierls-like insulator-metal (IM) transition in CuIr_{2}S_{4} was measured as a function of temperature. The low-temperature insulating-phase transient response is dominated by broken-symmetry-induced coherent lattice oscillations that abruptly vanish at the IM transition.

Thoracic surgery in Slovenia [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Disease, 2022
Slovenia is a small country in the Southeastern part of Europe with a Gross Domestic Product slightly below the European average. There are eleven board-certified thoracic surgeons and four residents, dealing with roughly 2,500 thoracic cases per year.

Prevalence of and factors associated with healthcare-associated infections in Slovenian acute care hospitals: Results of the third national survey

open access: yesSlovenian Journal of Public Health, 2019
In the third Slovenian national healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) prevalence survey, conducted within the European point prevalence survey of HAIs and antimicrobial use in acute care hospitals, we estimated the prevalence of all types of HAIs and ...

Covariant energy density functionals: the assessment of global performance across the nuclear landscape [PDF]

open access: yesProc. of Int. Conf. "Nuclear Structure and Dynamics '15'', Portoroz, Slovenia, 2015, AIP (American Institute of Physics) Conference Proceedings, v. 1681 (2015) 030004: 1-4, 2015
The assessment of the global performance of the state-of-the-art covariant energy density functionals and related theoretical uncertainties in the description of ground state observables has recently been performed. Based on these results, the correlations between global description of binding energies and nuclear matter properties of covariant energy ...

Magnetic phase diagram of the multiferroic FeTe$_2$O$_5$Br [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The low-temperature magnetic phase diagram of the multiferroic system FeTe$_2$O$_5$Br down to 300 mK and up to 9 T is presented. Short-range magnetic correlations within the crystal layers start to develop already at $\sim$50 K, i.e., far above $T_{N1} \sim$ 11.0 K, where the system undergoes a magnetic phase transition into the high-temperature ...

Unconventional photo-induced charge-density-wave dynamics in 2H-NbSe$_{2}$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We investigated temperature ($T$) dependent ultrafast near-infrared (NIR) transient reflectivity dynamics in coexisting superconducting (SC) and charge density wave (CDW) phases of two-dimensional 2H-NbSe$_{2}$ using NIR and visible excitations. With visible pump-photon excitation (400 nm) we find a slow high-energy quasiparticle relaxation channel ...
