Characterization of Mg2+-ATPase from slow-twitch muscle membranes
International Journal of Biochemistry, 1987SR vesicles from rabbit slow-twitch muscle reveal high activity (0.7-0.9 mumol/mg X min) of "basic" or Mg2+-ATPase. This enzyme differs in its biochemical properties from the well characterized Ca2+ pump ATPase. It is active in millimolar concentration of magnesium or calcium. The activity is inhibited by various detergents except for digitonin.

Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991, 2005Muscle sounds were recorded from human orbicularis oris and soleus muscles from 5 healthy subjects during isometric contraction. Frequency analysis of the signals revealed distinct power spectra for each muscle type. The peak frequency for soleus was 10.8 +/- 3.1 and for orbicularis oris was 22 +/- 5 Hz.
