Is there a relation between EEG-slow waves and memory dysfunction in epilepsy? A critical appraisal.

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2015
Is there a relationship between peri-ictal slow waves, loss of consciousness, memory, and slow wave sleep, in patients with different forms of epilepsy?

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

The effects of caffeine on sleep and maturational markers in the rat.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Adolescence is a critical period for brain maturation during which a massive reorganization of cortical connectivity takes place. In humans, slow wave activity (

Local infrared stimulation modulates spontaneous cortical slow wave dynamics in anesthetized rats

open access: yesScientific Reports
Cortical slow waves are hallmark oscillations of deep sleep and certain anesthetic conditions, yet the neurobiological mechanisms controlling their dynamics remain incompletely understood.

Chaos analysis of EEG during isoflurane-induced loss of righting in rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2014
It has long been known that electroencephalogram (EEG) signals generate chaotic strange attractors and the shape of these attractors correlate with depth of anesthesia.

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Neurophysiology of Avian Sleep: Comparing Natural Sleep and Isoflurane Anesthesia

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2019
Propagating slow-waves in electroencephalogram (EEG) or local field potential (LFP) recordings occur during non-rapid eye-movement (NREM) sleep in both mammals and birds.

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

VIDEO-EEG-MONITORING IN DIAGNOSIS OF MYOCLONIC ABSENCES

open access: yesЭпилепсия и пароксизмальные состояния, 2016
Myoclonic absences (MA) are generalised epileptic seizures, classificated as absences with special features. MA characterized by changes in the level of consciousness combined with severe bilaterally synchronous rhythmic myoclonic jerks.Objective.
