Fundraising as Contracting: Why Nonprofits Accept In‐Kind Donations
ABSTRACT In‐kind (nonmonetary) donations are a popular form of philanthropy that have received much less scholarly attention than monetary gifts. This study documents the prevalence of types of in‐kind giving and associated organizational practices, then explores links between the perceptions of nonprofit managers, organizational practices, and ...

Abstract Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) has been shown to be effective for surveying and monitoring dams, due to the method's sensitivity to moisture content and relevant physical properties (e.g., porosity). Automated ERT systems, capable of time‐lapse monitoring, can be used to detect variations in ground conditions.

Embodied urban design: Fostering nature connectedness for pro‐conservation behaviour
Abstract Those who feel more connected with nature are more likely to act in ways that support biodiversity. How connected people feel with nature depends in part on how meaningfully it figures into their experience of the built environment. Despite an increase in urban greening measures, these approaches often overlook how people perceive, interact ...

ABSTRACT We propose a practical procedure to quantify the time varying influence of parameters on hazard functions for power series compounded lifetime models. The procedure combines likelihood based fitting with a two stage sensitivity analysis and applies to a range of baselines and compounding laws.

Deep Reinforcement Learning‐Based Control for Real‐Time Hybrid Simulation of Civil Structures
ABSTRACT Real‐time Hybrid Simulation (RTHS) is a cyber‐physical technique that studies the dynamic behavior of a system by combining physical and numerical components that are coupled through a boundary condition enforcer. In structural engineering, the numerical components are subjected to environmental loads that become dynamic displacements of the ...

The Evolution of Autonomous Systems for Planetary Cave Exploration: A Review
ABSTRACT The exploration of Subsurface Access Points (SAPs), such as lava tubes on the Moon and Mars, has gained significant interest due to their potential as stable environments shielded from surface radiation and temperature extremes. These sites are considered high‐value targets for detecting water and signs of ancient life, and assessing their ...
